Weekend was good. Saturday was Cam's 7th birthday, but it was laid back, other than cleaning up Cam's room for expected friends on Sunday. My only complaint is that my back really hurts, and badly so after cleaning Cam's room, and while Roger did his best to relieve the pain, some still lingers and makes doing much housecleaning difficult. We had the usual suspects for dinner & our AD&D game (still 3.5 nearing the end). Rob got a small chocolate cake for Cam, and we sang him Happy Birthday. He enjoyed his day, laid back as it was. Craig spent the night.
Sunday kids got Craig up early (we parents slept in), but the gathering of kids didn't happen until noon. Had 3 male friends (and a female guardian for one boy) of Cam's join us for lunch at McDs, then an afternoon at the Island Waterpark for wet fun, cake and presents. One boy didn't like cold water (I told him he had to deal, as I couldn't warm up his water for him... he's used to Grandma's heated pool) and he also would not go on the taller rides. He started at the kiddie whale slide, and finally worked up to one of the smaller slides. The others had fun on the various rides, tall and otherwise. Their fav seemed to be the lazy river float area, which I enjoyed as well. We got home before 6, and the kids stayed to play a little longer in Cam's formerly clean room, before heading home and dinner for us of pizza.
I have done no sewing all weekend, and I am itching to get into sewing something. Will do that tonight after the BCM. I've also been spending my afternoon hanging up kids clothes, and cleaning up my bedroom of stuff... actually boxes of stuff that have no where else to be yet, so I must set up a photo table to photograph what I am selling off on eBay, and taking the rest to be dropped off at a thrift store. Sorted out hangers, and they are either recycled, or kept a few in a box for kids clothes. Must figure out what to do with the baby clothes we have in various boxes.
I've also been reading fiction books! Long ago, mid 80s I think, a friend highly recommended the Deryni series of books by Katherine Kurtz, as some of her favs. So I bought the books from a used book store, & the sci/fi book club... then let them sit on my shelves collecting dust. I finally finished off the first set of 3 last night, and decided to get into The Bishop's Heir today. I am enjoying the writing style in general... but I am not liking how they end so far, at least at the end of each book. Maybe I am too used to modern fantasy endings like Harry Potter series, but I keep expecting more from the ending as they are built up, not the sudden shift into an ending that seems... a bit contrived? Not magical enough? I don't know, I just know I don't like how they are ending. Ah well... at least the story is entertaining for the most part.
