I watched a very small movie

After all this time, I finally got to watch Elizabeth: The Golden Age, on my Nano, which was... interesting. I had recorded it on TiVo, and downloaded it to the laptop, then the Nano. This is the first time I've watched a movie on such a small screen. Very hard to read the text on the screen. So, unless I really have to watch something to pass the time away from home, and don't have my laptop or tv to watch a movie on, I think I will use the Nano just for an aural experience.

I actually like the movie overall, although the costuming had me screaming internally. But the use of colors and sometimes styles fit the storyline well. The Armada outfit I would liked to have seen her move around in. I also screamed at the mixing of characters, and mixing of story elements, as I think the historical record was far more intriguing on its own. But it was a grand epic feel to the movie, and the cinematography was lovely. Did not like the Scots accent on Mary QoS, who by all rights should sound more French than Scots. But then most people don't understand her real history, and at least it wasn't a heavy burr.

And young Bess reminded me a lot of myladyswardrobe, in a very good way. :-)

On the costuming, I think I hated the Scottish ladies in waiting the most, as they almost looked Edwardian in style, and very severe in coloring. I know, it was the look the director wanted most likely. But it annoyed me the most. I also disliked the black feathers the Queen wore with her deep purple gown. Made her look like she had horns on her head in one scene.

I will eventually pick up the DVD for the extras. Hmmm... maybe I should give that Boleyn movie a try... if I ever get up the courage.
