Thyme-lemon balm tea

Dec 20, 2008 23:07

New recipe for sore throat tea.

5 leaves of thyme (didn't realize leaves were so small, so maybe a sprig?)
1-2 leaves of lemon balm
honey
hot water for one cup
Bruise or cut the leaves, then allow to steep in hot water at least 5 minutes. Remove leaves. Add honey to taste.

This is working better than chamomille tea in helping with my very sore throat, and it is pretty tasty with the hint of lemon. The thyme supposedly is antiseptic. The cool thing for me, is I have both herbs come fresh from my cold garden (with more dried should I need them).

I will see how well it works as I drink more.

Edit: My husband did the work for this the first time, so I didn't remember the thyme leaves were so tiny (memory fails often). So maybe a sprig of thyme, and not just 5 tiny leaves. Will learn more tonight with the sprig.
