Today was spent taking Cam to the dentist for 4 cavities, and then a day of clothes shopping for the whole family.
Most of the stuff was for the growing kids, but Rob got 3 pairs of jeans, and I bought a blouse, a tulip skirt (I like how it looks, as I'd never worn that style before), and a pair of slacks. Thankfully, I got time to try on the clothing without the kids, as the guys watched them at the mall's play area.
But I tried on lots and lots of clothes just to pick out those three, as most of what I tried on just did not fit me well. I am between sizes, and have short legs, and so many pants just were too long or too big, even tho they were supposedly the same size. The skirt ended up size 14W, and the slacks were 16W, while another 16W was too big & baggy, but they didn't have any 14W. And for kicks, I tried a "regular" size 16, which my thighs were too large to fit into comfortably. I will have to seriously get thin legs to ever fit into "regular" sizes, and I doubt that will happen.
The blouses were similarly a "bust", pardon the expression. The one I chose actually looked good on me color wise (it's aubergine), and the darts were generic in shaping enough to not point in the wrong part of my bust. But the others were either too bright in color (my gray hair is changing my palette color-wise) that I looked washed out, or the fitting was terrible, or it just looked blah on me, or the fiber was un-natural (poly/lycra is just icky).
So, too many reasons for me to realize once again, I hate clothes shopping. Honestly, how do you women enjoy the hunt? Is there something I am missing? Should I do this with other women instead of on my own? Ah, if only I had a woman friend I could turn to locally, as guys just don't shop the same way.
It also made me realize even more that I have to make some of the clothes I am seeing in my head. I also need to sketch out some of the ideas I've got running around in my brain. And I need to make or buy some more grey clothing. The color actually looks good on my now, tho the styles I tried on just didn't cut it. Seems that has become part of my color palette, greys, black, white & deep jewel tones.
Tomorrow, I get into painting that room! While my tummy is still getting to me, it seems to be less of an issue than earlier.
