Did more sewing (gasp!)

Tonight, I finally pulled out my early Tudor kirtle, which looks a lot like most other kirtles I've made, except this time it is front lacing. I am encouraged to finish it, because of the lovely kirtle koshka_the_cat has made, and because I will need to either bring mine, or wear it, this Saturday for Academia. I have a class on hand sewing stitches, so this will be a demo item for the class as we discuss how the stitches are used on an actual garment.

I had finished the eyelets sometime before CoCo, and even dragged it around CoCo thinking I might have time to sew on it (hah!)

So, tonight I finally put the straps on, and had Rob help me to put in a dart in the center back because it gaps back there. That was a bust, as I think he pulled up a bit more than it needed for a smooth dart, even with a curved dart. So I will have to take it out for the second time, and put it on my dress form to fit it smoother, or something.

I also did a running stitch along the edge of the skirt front to keep the seam allowance down flat. The edges of the skirt is serged (because I don't want to deal with raveling seams or spending hours sewing French or flat seams on them). I just pinned the top of the skirt 1" and will press it in a bit. That will be all for tonight I think. Yeah, not a lot, but that I have even done much on this at all is amazing. I will take it to BCM tomorrow to do more work.
