Dreaming of Victorian train rides.

While being at the Roaring Camp railroad again yesterday, I picked up some of their brochures for their normal train excursions. I really am pondering doing a late Victorian/Western style of event with GBACG, if I only knew what such members enjoy doing at those kind of events. I have yet to make one (tho' I hope to next winter with their Tudor event). Maybe I will hit up a few people at CoCo (as others are calling Costume College) and asking all sorts of annoying questions.

It does make me want to actually make a Victorian outfit, not only for me, but for my whole family. Rob has yet to state if this is something he's ok with or not. But I can so picture a cute little girls outfit for 'Elle, and maybe an engineer's outfit for Cam. And I am torn between 60's day dress, or 70's bustle dress. I would need to make the appropriate underpinnings first (now that my weight is stable). I would also require a parasol of some sort, as the trains are mostly uncovered, and I will need some shade for those rides.

I also saw that the camp has an on-site photographer that does those dress up and take a photo in a saloon type of places. I chatted with the lady proprietress, and she told me their camera is digital, and is on a wifi so that outside photos can also be taken (within a certain range, but close enough to take in front of the steam train). I've got her contact info, as I would love to have appropriate photos of my family dressed up, and if it is a group event, maybe a group photo.

Cam of course just wants to get on the steam train. Too bad we had missed the last steam ride by 10 minutes! It would have cost over $20 per adult to get on, but the ride was at least 1.5 hours up the mountain, which is a lot longer than the 25 minutes on Thomas.
