I had an enjoyable evening helping St. Henry's provide entertainment at FCC Library for the Scholars Scholarship Fundraiser event. Many people of note from the community were there, and we were there to entertain them, and encourage them to raise as much funds as possible for their student's needs. The food was quite yummy, St. Henry's was lots of fun, as always and they even flew in
girlon_theverge to be Queen Bess for the night. I got to spend the evening being one of her ladies in waiting, and chose "Bess of Hardwicke", since it really didn't matter (hey, I admire her embroidery skills and her connection to Mary QoS).
It did make me realize something... I very much *need* finer garb for these kinds of events. I felt a bit under dressed in my comfy loose kirtle and gown, even tho I love the sleeves of my kirtle and its sparkle along the seams. It was the gown that is a bit worn out, and since it isn't cut in front, my pretty kirtle front was pretty much hidden. I could have worn my finest (but old and now too big) Elizabethan, but my hoops were toast (I need a new one), and I didn't have the inclination or time to adjust the seams of the bodice, for all the gardening I also needed to do today.
Oh, yeah, I worked in my garden today, splitting up a couple of our day lillies and replanting them. They sorely needed the work, as one was starting to not be dark enough on the green leaves, and had no blooms even starting to bud. We move another limp bush, too.
So, now I am home, and we are gaming, and I am waiting for our sorceror to figure out what he is doing. (time passes, and finally he is done). Combat sucks when it takes forever for someone to finish a whole bunch of Swift actions, that really aren't.
Ah, well... as much as I *want* finer garb, and *need* finer garb... I am on hold until my weight drops and stabilizes, which I hope will happen by the end of the year. But not if I keep enjoying such meals as I enjoyed tonight! Oh, that was a good, if modern, feast. Not as good or as plentiful as Yule feast, but good. I think after CC26, I need to work on a finer loose gown, if nothing else. Hmmm... must think on this, since I have a few different fabrics I might be able to use.
