French & English hoods, and goldworked collar

With great thanks to pinkdiamond, she posted a number of image links to flickr sites that had English and French hood gable images. I will be adding those to my site, or at least links (depending on copyright allowance).

But one I have to share, not for the hood... but because of the possible smock (or maybe gathered partlet) she is wearing.

I want my next Tudor smock to be high necked (getting tired of exposed chest), but hadn't found anything that wasn't more indicative of a sheer semi-fitted partlet, compared to a gathered neckline of a smock like this one shows.

And it has goldworked collar (I know, it may just be artistic license here)... which after reading about similar goldworked collars from Henry VIII's inventory, and how the collar bands and ruffs for the gold/jeweled ones were separate items, I want to make such a goldworked collar for me (not for my man, sorry hun).

Actually, small rant here... but it would be nice if I could make up goldworked stomachers like Henry wears in his portraits... but Henrician women were demure creatures who didn't wear the gaudy clothing of wealth like Henry did. I want a goldworked stomacher for my Tudors, but I guess I will have to make something Elizabethan to do that for. Hmmm.... wonder if there is anything appropriate for the 1590s I can dig up?
