LibraryThing

Yeah, I am finally taking the plunge with this online resource/library for my books. I was using a program database that I liked, but it is PC, I have a Mac, and I can't find my old database for it, so I probably forgot to transfer it over, so I don't feel like dealing with setting it up again. So, why not use this online listing for my books. At least if I ever change to another system or upgrade or anything, it will still be around (at least until the company folds for whatever reason).

So, here's the little icon that links to my catalog of books I have uploaded so far.

So far, I like it. I plan on linking to the various tags I have from my web site in different areas. I want to add in some reviews, as I find time (I just wrote up one for The Tudor Tailor). Depending on how things go, I may even pay for a lifetime membership... if I find it usable enough for my needs (which are pretty modest). I want to be able to give book reviews and recommendations, which I am not sure how best to proceed with that other than their simple 5 star rating system.

I only wish I could save off the list to a hardcopy, or even a backup file or something, other than as a pdf file. Oh, heh, I can! Cool. I can Export as either a CSV or tab-del. text. Ah, good. I might use those for my web site instead, maybe. Although it is simpler to just send people to my LibraryThing and let them hunt around as they want.

Well, off to my sewing room so I can add in more books...
