Sizing charts suck sometimes

I just want to say that I hate being between sizes. Even for sewing patterns and their size charts.

I am right at the border on the Connie Crawford patterns. My bust and hips are a size 16/XL. My waist is a size 3X (gotta love having kids). The pattern set I got goes from XXL on up, so I will have to adjust the torso for the most part for a smaller me than is on their lines. Waist adjustments are very easy to do, so that's a minor issue. But upper body adjustments are not so easy to do. But I didn't want to get the smaller set, since those I think are draped on a "regular" body size form, and not the plus sized body which I still have the shape issues of.

And looking at Connie's site, her original patterns never did include a size 16/XL. She just notes that you add a half inch to the size 14 pattern.

Hmmm... I am wondering if I can (or even want to) exchange the patterns, since I haven't touched them other than to look at the size chart and instruction pages (but they are nicely folded back). Because if I do like them, and want to continue to use them, I will end up being smaller, not larger in size from this middle ground. But then the larger set has elastic waistline casings, which make for a more comfortable fit for my definitely larger tummy.

Something to ponder about. I think for now, I will keep them and use Connie's books to help me make them smaller. When I do get smaller in size, I will simply buy the smaller patterns, if I like them enough to keep with them.
