Ugh, I have such a disorganized mess for a home. I am looking for my ouches to go on my Tudor gown. I made them up a few years ago from poly clay, then removed them from my old bodice for some reason, probably because they were falling off their links. I want to sew them to my new kirtle edge, but I can't find the box I know I put them in. I can even see in my mind's eye which plastic box they should be in, and I can't find the friggin box!!
Once my slate is cleared of costuming stuff I must do, I will, I MUST organize my sewing room, and the rest of my home as well, since in my hunt I've found other costume pieces around my home. Actually, I am working slowly on organizing my home, it's just taking a long time to do.
I did find a photo of me wearing my best Scots outfit that just makes me cringe looking at how so very wrong it was.
At least I did look thin, and had a nice smile on my face. I just happen to be wearing a rose pink pleated sleeve leine with a farthingale on. An underskirt of rayon blend tapestry forepart and matching triangular stomacher. A gown of medium blue cotton with hanging normal length sleeves, trimmed in green gimp with lots of small beads added for sparkle. And topped with a crotched tam with feathers. Oh, the shame of it all, but I had no clue then of the wrongness of it. The gown really isn't all that bad, alone... and not too bad for my very first attempt at something "noble" although it looks more like a wanna be ren-faire middle class sorta thing.
Maybe I might scan the photo one of these days and share it with folks. It would be worth a good laugh I think. I may even auction the gown off on eBay, so I can add it to the costume snarks group for mass snarking. Or I might just burn the darned thing.
Edit: I found them... had to look in the great blocked off area of my bookshelves (where Maurelle cannot get into). Now to find out if I have to make up more of these things, as I want to use 8 for my foresleeves.
