More Tips on Velvet & Trim

More thoughts/tips on sewing that I am learning/remembering.
  • Prewash in hot water, &/or steam trim before useing to shrink it.
  • Mark guidelines with chalk, or something that will come off, yet be seen while working. Recheck measurements as needed, as things may drift.
  • Double check which side of a dual-sided trim you have showing, before you sew it in place (ripping out seams is a bitch).
  • Pin & repin trim as needed, since on velvet it will drift over your guidelines on a regular basis.
  • Use a part of the sewing foot, and a part of the trim, to use as guides to sew the trim straight.
  • Don't procrastinate, because then when you do get to sewing again, you will be rushing, which isn't as fun.
  • When you can't think straight, head to bed, because it is LATE and I need some sleep.

I am going to take that last tip to heart once I prewash some more trim in hot water. Night all.
