Just wanted to take a small break to note my current progress on the Tudor outfit. I would be going a bit faster but with Rob gone, I don't have the early evenings to work on things, which loses time. Also, Cam is taking shorter naps so less time there as well.
I just cut out the linen lining for the doublet & jacket. The doublet & jacket are both wonderfully and fully corded, especially the doublet. The doublet also has lots of cuts and small puffs all over the front & back between each pair of cords, four pairs of cords each side, and one down the center back seam. Yeah, it's puffy! Both doublet & jacket are interlined & sewn at the shoulder seams as well, and will soon have the linings applied. I will be leaving them open at the armhole for the sleeves, and at the side seams for fitting later. Well, technically I can sew up the jacket armhole as he wants the sleeves attached to the doublet, but I am hesitant for some reason. I think I will double check that he wants the sleeves attached to the doublet.
Ah, the sleeves. I've cut them out and trimmed & corded up the upper puffs already, but the base sleeve looks so huge! I am going to hold off on those until I can fit them onto the client and make sure they are the size and style he wants, which also means postponing the cording on the sleeves as well. I know how I want them to look, but I won't be marking them or making them until I can mark their positions while he is wearing the sleeve in its proper placement. I may also make them with open armpits or add in footballs or something, it's just their size seems off, as in too big, even tho it was made to fit the armholes of the doublet, which was fitted snugly to his body.
I think next up will be marking, trimming & cording the skirt. I need to dye the white linen lining material royal blue tomorrow. I have the dyestuffs already.
And I've been taking some photos which I need to get developed tomorrow as well, when I head out to drop movies I didn't watch much of at the library. I think I even have faire photos on the same roll of film. I did find the digital camera, but Rob has it with him at Brainshare, so film it is.
Well, back to sewing the lining up, once I write to the client and set up the date for his final fitting.
