That CD Shop

When That CD Shop opened many years ago, I used to say that it was a dangerous place to go to, because of the great recommendations and cross-sales they made. Now, I am not sure anymore. Not only do different outlets sell things at different prices, the service has become almost take-it-or-leave-it.

I went into the branch at Paragon last night, and bought a few CDs. I also asked about the Pink Martini Christmas release called Joy To The World. Apparently, they had run out of stock at that location. The lady at the counter flatly said that I would probably get it by Friday. I asked her which shops still had stock, and she rattles off the list, without offering to call the shops to get me the disc.

I rushed over to Pacific Plaza, only to be told that the only copy was already sold. The salesgirl then said that if I paid for the CD, that they would deliver it to me after they closed. She said it would be late, but she would SMS to me once it was delivered.

This morning, no SMS, no CD. Not even after lunch. I called the shop, and they had no record of anything that happened. No number, no address. I blasted the girl on the line, who was apologetic. She called the salesgirl from last night, and was told that the CD was going to be delivered by 3 pm. Apparently, there was some miscommunication between the shops and sales-assistants... So, does that mean that the client does not get duly informed?

The staff at the shop obviously think their clients are telepathic, since they do not inform them of any further delays (perhaps for fear of getting another ear-full). The CD finally gets delivered after 4 pm. So much for their promises.

I think this is the last time I am going to That CD Shop. Their prices are not that low, and I might as well just go to HMV, where there is service.

service quality, that cd shop
