iPhone 4 and iPad

Both the iPhone 4 and iPad have arrived on the shores of Singapore, with the major telcos announcing their pricing plans for the iPhone 4, having announced data plans for the iPad already.

The arrival of the iPads have seen crowds building in most Apple retailers. Most seem interested in what the 9.7 inch screen of the iPad will look like and handle. The 16 GB Wi-Fi only iPad retails at $728, the 32 GB unit at $878, with the 64 GB Wi-Fi unit retailing at $1028. The 3G capability retails at a $200 premium. Singtel offers a 1-month plan at $34.50 (with 50 GB of free data usage) and a data cap price of $94.16; M1 has a $21.40 plan with 3 GB of data (maximum data charges capped at $51.36) or an unlimited data plan at $36.38 a month (usual price is $43.87); whereas Starhub offers an unlimited data plan, also at $36.38 a month.

The iPhone 4 prices have been released by the major telcos, and will retail from $480 to $500 with the basic contract ($36 to $39 a month) with 12 GB data and the usual $30 cap on data charges. The cheapest offer is by M1, with the $480 for the iPhone 4 and the $36 per month plan. After the controversies with the antenna and reception, I wonder if it will affect the uptake of the iPhone?

I think I will wait until the initial excitement dies down before I seek to demo the iPad with Apple Remote installed to control a Mac Mini playing iTunes...
