Only The Fools Follow...

I am convinced that the general population are being lulled into inaction, which maintains the status quo. Silly thing is that it does not benefit them at all, but the rich, who are continuing to accumulate wealth. We all know that the average household income has risen, but the median household income has not kept up. Anyone who has a little understanding of statistics will tell you that the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer.

You believe that the majority of Singaporeans are happy with HDB flats? You sure they will opt to stay in one, if the private condominiums were about the same price? Yes, we do see resale HDB flats transacting for astronomical prices, but these are the few flats that have been built in the central core or have some unique value. Remember also that those transacting for that sort of price are usually 3-bedroom units. Where would you be able to find a similar 3-bedroom condo unit in the area for a similar price? In fact, you'd be lucky to find a 2-bedroom unit for that price!

I also find it amusing that we are told that we are experiencing a higher standard of living, when we are asked to start switching from fresh meat to frozen meat, and from fresh whole eggs to powdered or liquid eggs. I thought an improvement meant that we moved to free-range instead of battery-farmed?

Oh well... How easy it is to mislead people who are too lazy to think... Do we really need to consume more to be happier? Or is it so that they can extract more in taxes?
