They Are Finally Here!
Yes! The MacBook Pro line has just been refreshed! At last! The 15 and 17 inch MacBook Pro's will either i5 or i7 processors. The 15" ones have a choice of two i5 chips, either the 2.4 GHz or the 2.53 GHz; or the 2.66 GHz i7. The 15 and 17 inchers also come with the NVIDIA GeForce GT330M graphics chip on top of the Intel graphics. The top of the line 15-inch and the 17-inch models have 512 MB of memory on the NVIDIA card, compared with 256 MB on the other 15-inchers.
Interestingly, the 13-inch models still use the Core 2 Duo processors, instead of either i3 or i5 chips. Their chips run at either 2.4 GHz or 2.66 GHz, and they NVIDIA GeForce GT320M graphics chips with 256 MB memory.
Oh! And there is an option for SSD drives up to 512 GB!!! Not that I'll be able to afford that! And the high-resolution screen for the 15-inch model costs another $150 in glossy, and $225 in matt! :(
Prices are from $1788 for the base 13-inch model, to the $6350 for the 17-inch model with 8 GB of RAM, the i7 chip and a 512 GB SSD.
Now I'm really wondering what I'll get. After complaining about the weight of my 17-inch PowerBook for so long, should I go for the 15-inch i7? The difference is only $360, and at least the 17-inch has a ExpressCard/34 slot. How now?
