Let's Talk About Sex...

I really do not understand the conservatives when it comes to the subject of sex education and birth control. Do they think that youngsters nowadays will abstain from sex, just because they are taught that in school? With the subject of sex so rampant in the media and the internet, they are bound to want to try it out. Hence, it probably is better to inform them about the potential consequences of their actions, and teach them what precautions to take. Teaching abstinence, and hoping for the best, is highly impractical, since many youngsters do not subscribe to the same moral standards as the conservatives. The youngsters, for lack of information, might then experiment themselves, or go on hear-say, which is a whole lot worse.

I wonder why they are so concerned about the dissemination of such information. Or is this just another manifestation of the control of information to exert authority?
