Obama Wins!
Obama wrote American history today, by being the first African-American to be voted as the President of the United States. Not only did he manage to win the traditionally Democrat states, he also managed to bag a number of historically Republican states. Besides the battleground states like Ohio and Florida, Obama also managed to win in Virginia, a state that has not voted for a Democrat in more than forty years!
My guess is that both parties will be analysing the statistics from the elections, to better understand the vote. As many political analysts rightly point out, the Republican party has a lot of work to do. Not only have they lost the Presidential race, but they have also lost further ground in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
I must say that Obama's victory speech in Grant Park was very conciliatory. I expect that he will need all the help he can get, in tackling issues in front of him, including the conflict in the Middle-East, and the Global Credit Crisis. Let the show begin!
