It's All About Marketing
Just back from a meeting in Langkawi. The hotel and setting was beautiful, which set some of us colleagues to discuss why Langkawi was not amongst the most popular tourist destinations. Afterall, the picture taken could even pass off as one taken in the South Pacific! Besides the lack of girlie bars, and night markets, Langkawi looks much like Phuket. I am sure that not all who go to Phuket are interested in the two things I have mentioned, so why the difference in popularity? If it is the peaceful and idyllic resort you are looking for, then Langkawi would probably be as good as the South Pacific! So, is it just down to bad marketing? For it is not only Langkawi that suffers from the apparent disinterest from the international jet-set, but many lovely locations in Malaysia. Surely Langkawi is more beautiful than Sentosa, so why do tourist flock to Sentosa instead?
