Nostalgic smell

As many times before I want to send something written or drawn to a convention I can't attend... Corflu. The other week I found a lettering guide at a yard sale, not that I ever used them... I've always liked them as objects. I've been asking around for stencils, or even ditto masters, but I had this nagging feeling there must be some in my garage (there's a historic Rex Rotary buried in there somewhere). I looked again for the Nth time, and there was the name Gestetner: but it was only a writing sheet (like a shading plate but meant to not make a texture, just provide an ideal backing). I sawed some more firewood with my little bow saw, hoping it would relieve tension, or get me tired enough to sleep deeply, or provide a meditative idle for my mind. On the Nth + 1 look around the garage, there was a thin box limply hanging off an upper shelf: Quill brand stencils, and with a stylus in the box too! I thought for a moment they had gone gooey, but no, nor are they brittle; the paper headers are slightly discolored, but the stencils seem to be in OK condition. And they smell like old times. I won't go hunting for my bottle of corflu if I can help it, but the less volatile wax... ah.
