I have to try this one on my mother - it suddenly occurred to me we should get rid of the nasty little spinet piano that I don't think anybody plays (except the cat who climbs over the keyboard). I dislike even touching it. (And no one else is here most of the year.) I have a toy-sized electronic keyboard which is enough to pick out vocal parts, and is even useful, for taking along on traveling ecumenical hymn sings with shut-ins - unlike the pitchpipe, I can keep plunking the tonic & dominant so we stay on pitch better, a very good thing when I'm trying to sing tenor (I sometimes cheat I admit, and start a little higher than written, since no one in the group has perfect pitch).
Naturally I would like to have a MIDI-capable keyboard big and solid enough to sit at and play Hanon exercises & Bach inventions (not that I ever learned many, but over the years I realize that even playing a few familiar pieces over and over is worth a lot). Another reason to visit Kip....
Do any of you have any recommendations, or sources to direct me to, for modest but substantial keyboards, and notation programs that work with them? There is way too much information out there for a simple search. The only music notation program I've worked with is Nightingale, which I don't think is making it in the marketplace. I'd ramble on about my modest needs for keyboard <-> scores but I *am* still at work and trying to get a little accomplished.
