While the rest of us are dealing with typical Seattle winter weather, the boys are training hard in Florida . In theory.

I am NOT impressed with Neagle and Fucito leaving for this Johnson fellow. Not okay at all. Fucking Montreal is rising and rising on my "do not like" list tbqh.

GOING INTO DENIAL NOW :'(

WHAT THE FUCK.

FOR EDDIE FUCKING JOHNSON.

As in, the one I only remembered existed a few weeks ago, just because of the trade rumors?

*sobs*

Not that I have anything against Johnson (besides the fact that two of my favorite Sounders were traded for him), but I honestly thought he disappeared a while ago. :\\\

This has been one of the worst offseasons ever. ;____;

I can't say I have anything against Johnson in particular because I've never seen him play, but the fact that we traded Neagle and Fucito (two players who, even if they don't always score, work hard and at least provide some depth to our fragile team) for a player who's probably already reached his best and hasn't scored in two years? It makes no sense. Ugh, maybe we do need a forward who can work well with Fredy while also scoring lots of goals, but frankly I doubt Jonhson is the answer. And personally I have never agree with the idea that we needed a new forward. We were the highest scoring team last season, for heaven's sake! If we could have kept our offense (while having the addition of Zak back to our roster who would have helped us more) and just improved our defense I would have been beyond pleased. ;___;

Aye. :| I am liking the MLS System less and less, even if I love the Sounders to pieces.

Yeah, idk the exact situation with Johnson; I just assumed that since he'd faded out of the national team scene, he wasn't doing anything in Europe. He was awesome when he was in MLS (like...four years ago) but other than that...I guess they must have seen something great in him or something. :||

But really, NEAGLE /AND/ FUCITO? Maybe they weren't going to be regular starters this year, but I feel like they showed a lot of potential last year (especially Neagle). :((

I don't think we really needed a new forward that badly either, we had Fucito and Ochoa. Both of who did well last season...

He's hoping. Even if he hasn't been on form of late, I feel like the combination of our fitness coaches, coaches, and players can help him hit his stride (if there it to be one...). I just hope he won't prove to be an Andy Carroll (who, frankly, is still young, whereas Johnson isn't).

Yes yes yes! And actually, Fucito was starting all the preseason matches, which just confuses me even more! :( But Neagle, oh Neagle. He was so promising, he'll probably be worth so much more than we traded him for in the future. ;____; At least we have plenty of depth on the wings, which is probably why they traded him to begin with. :|

I'm glad I'm not alone! Estrada seems to be improving tons too, so there's another forward.

Yeah, like they did a great job with Mauro (even though the whole 'failed the physical' turned out to be bogus); I have faith that they can get him into shape, if he isn't already. I'm really nervous about if he'll be able to be the "old" EJ from his former MLS days. There's going to be so much pressure on him to perform...

Seriously, I'm pretty sure Johnson is already at his peak/maybe past it (who knows at this point) but Neagle still has one or two seasons to grow the most. AND NOW HE WON'T BE DOING IT WITH US. :'(

Ooh, I forgot about Estrada. idk, I think if we were a team that /needed/ the traditional pairing of small/big strikers, it was probably a good gamble to get EJ...but I feel like, especially last season, we found that we didn't have to do that to get successful results. I'm really frustrated with the whole thing. :[

It sounds like he is shape, so there's that. Well, assuming he didn't just get injured. :| I really really hope he just comes out and performs because I agree, the pressure will be enormous and more so if he isn't producing.

Exactly - who knows. Which is the biggest gamble ever. Praying it will pay off though. And ugh Neagle. :( I keep imagining weird ways in which we somehow get him back lol. I need a homegrown boy in my team dammit, and he was great!

Definitely. Oh we can definitely perform well without a small-big strikers pairing. If Fredy and our midfield perform again this season I don't see us being short of goals, and another forward just adds to that tally. All we really need to improve from last year was our defense, start to the season, and for the first game against RSL to not have happened as it did, because we were otherwise fantastic.

Aw, I hope EJ's okay. (luckily, it didn't sound like it was a cause for a lot of concern?) It would just be too much if he ended up being injured, after what has happened this weekend...

Someday Neagle will make his way back! I have faith. All of the players from Washington need to be like Keller and see out their careers here. :(

Right? Goalscoring was not one of our problems last season (although not being able to finish all of our chances might have been a different story, haha). And ever since we mostly upgraded or kept our defense together, it looked like we were going to be good to go. :\ And then they have to go and do this. ;-;

(edit: because i can't spell :\)

Looks like he's fine now, but also like he wont be exerting himself too quickly this time around. I hope.

I am a believer~. Amen to that! We really need one who just sticks with us forever though tbqh.

lol yes, finishing. Always finishing. But it's not like it even made much of a difference in the end, being top scorers and all. Exactly! Well, praying we're even better off now. And since Estrada really seems to be making strides I'm interested to see how they'll rotate the forwards.

I don't even understand why. Honestly. It is Seba all over again, except worse. because that was more passive. this is so not.
