Donald just accepted a job offer to be a homeroom teacher at an international school in Shenyang, China. Shenyang is a big city of 7 million in northern China, disturbingly close to North Korea and about halfway between Beijing and Vladivostok. We will be leaving in August and will stay for at least a year.
What else to say? I'm terrified and excited. MIT has free Chinese language courses, and luckily they speak Standard Chinese in Shenyang, so I'm going to try and make myself do those. Honestly, there's only one coherent thought in my head right now: WHOA! FUCKING CHINA, MAN!!
