CONVENTION POST

Aug 26, 2008 13:18

Wow, I'm actually doing one on time for once. ^^; So CN Anime/Fan Expo Canada has come and gone, thus bringing another con season here to a close. Here's the best of the pictures I took at the con, along with a little bit of commentary and such. Oh, and a list of the swag I attained. 8D

Starting off with cosplay pictures. :) I didn't take as many pictures as I perhaps would've liked, but I'm happy with the ones I did get. I didn't cosplay this time, because due to a combination of work and a cold, I just didn't seem to have the time or energy.

Friends' Cosplay (I didn't name any of you just in case you wouldn't want me to. But yeah, you were all wicked)
Awesome Toph is awesome
Revolver Ocelot and one of his troopers - they would be my friend's younger brother and cousin. Unfortunately I somehow missed my actual friend's costume. D: I've no doubt it was well-done though. I'll just have to force her into it one day or something. XD
Zero of Megaman fame
Spartan Queen and Spartan woman-warrior
The "Low-Cut" Links

Other Cosplayers
Nurse Joker - my friend and I were keeping a tally of Joker cosplayers (mostly from TDK). This was one of two Nurse Jokers. There were...I believe three regular Joker cosplayers, plus one or two comic Jokers. Here's one of the other TDK Jokers (with a Harley Quinn) -
TDK Joker and Harley Quinn - the next two are of the same Joker (got his picture in the Masquerade green room), in one of which he agreed to pose with me.
TDK Joker gonna cut you and TDK Joker gonna cut...me! Ack! (I cannot thank this guy enough for putting up with my camera being an absolute bitch for the latter picture.)
Raditz, Goku and Vegeta
Heather from Silent Hill 3...and a TIE Fighter - interesting crossovers much?
Another Silent Hill character, also with a TIE Fighter - unfortunately I can't quite remember her name. >.<
A really good Ulquiorra and Grimmjow
Nnoitra - they even did a decent job with his spoon-hood XD (I took this especially for a certain friend of mine - you know who you are!)
Cosmo and Wanda
Interview with the Vampire group
Cloud, Haruko and Seras Victoria - more interesting crossovers much? XD
Looking For Group group that completely and utterly owned everything
Richard (same one from above picture) with Benny and the LFG creators Lar and Sohmer
Awesome Gurren-Lagann group 1 and 2
King Leonidas (more on how he managed to scare me later)
Star Wars group - the woman dressed as Leia did an incredible belly dance in the Masquerade
Knight - I can't remember what my friend said he was from, but the costume was great and he did a great job in the Masquerade
Gaara and Kankuro, with Karasu
Scarecrow (Batman Begins style)
This one isn't really cosplay, but I figured I'd put it here anyway - Me as a Star Wars action figure - comes with removable Jounin vest, dead baby doll and backpack accessories!

All righty! Next up is con stories.
~Friday morning, while everyone was waiting in line, Space Channel launched their little promotional event for the next season premier for Heroes. I don't watch the show, but the promotion proved to be amusing at least. A bunch of guys dressed all in black started walking around carrying signs that said "DARKNESS IS COMING", with the season premier date beneath. And they started handing out...cardboard cut-out Sylar masks. One of my friends (the one who cosplayed as Zero) and I made good use of the masks. Here's my friend wearing hers on the back of her head (which is how she startled me a few times), me lookin' sexy in mine, and me proudly wearing mine on my crotch. I still have my mask, and will probably find a way to use it to scare small children people.

~The aforementioned Leonidas story: I went to get pictures of the Leonidas while he had been stopped for pictures already. When I went over, another guy was getting a close-up picture (seemed like it would be one of those "What a Persian sees before they die" sort of perspective shots). That guy leaves, and before I can say "May I take your picture too please?", the cosplayer - who was incredibly in-character I might add - stalks toward me. He towers over me for a moment before asking "Persian?" I squeaked out "No!", to which he responded "Then you may live." He walked away leaving me shaken and full of glee all at the same time.

Hm...I'm not sure what else there is worth telling. I spent most of Friday and Saturday running around between places so I guess my amount of con stories is a little less than usual. *shrugs* I still had fun though and I'm glad I went. Helping out in the green room again was fun, and this time there were few annoying people. There's only one video on YouTube of one of the people from my den, though it's not of very good quality. Hopefully there'll be more soon.
I guess this leaves the swag list then. :D This is both stuff I bought and stuff that was bought for me:
~A Slayers d20 game book (basically so that one can make an adaptation of Dungeons and Dragons for the Slayersverse). Grant and I will be making an RPG from this, and we're getting really excited about it. We also bought a set of DnD dice each.
~A Kadaj plushie
~A zombie/dead baby doll that Grant and I "adopted"
~The remastered boxset for the first season of Slayers
~Shaman King graphic novels - #2, 3 and 4
~A sketch of Uryu Ishida that I got Derek Stephen Prince to sign (I bought him a keychain of Wormmon that he seemed to like XD)
~A little plushie of Gatomon - it's damaged, so the guy gave it to me for free.
~Panties with "OM NOM NOM" printed on them 8D
~Grant and I got our picture taken in front of a green screen at the WB booth, which was then superimposed in a Supernatural picture so it looked like we were standing with Sam and Dean. It was free, which was awesome.

That would be about it. If there's anything missing I'll add it once it's remembered. Here's to another fun con!
