Well, the first 2 interviews went great. I really hope I get the first one, but that guy was very satisfied with my resume and stuff, and yeah my dazzling personality... it wasthe boss, not the guy who usually handels the interns, but that's only positive in this case ;) He said, I could be pretty sure of it, cos of course he is going to discuss it with the guy who usually handles the interns but hey, he's the boss so what he sais goes ;)

The second wasn't really as cool though... those guys smoked, they said they didn't have a problem with smoking outside, but one guy who wasn't there at the moment might... hey, it's the law that you can't smoke in an office, of course if you're all smokers that's fine, but then you shouldn't hire me... they were also pretty vague as to what I'd be paid and all "I still have to think about that... but otherwise we'll pay for like school supplies or anything"
Yeah that's nice, but while I'm on internship I don't have school and don't need any supplies... I'd rather have cold hard cash :p
And on top of that they wanted me to work on my laptop. As an employer you're supposed to provide all necessairy materials, and I don't think my ensurance would like it if I suddenly use it for professional work instead of school.

So yeah... there it is.
This friday I got another meeting. But that's a bit too far from home I realized. But I'll go to the interview nevertheless cos it's also good to just take a look around at a company, get a bit of interview-experience... even if I already know I'm not gonna take the internship...
And I got another one next wednesday, that's in Den Haag which was a reasonable distance...

I still hope I get the first though, that's near Schiphol Airport, which is near me, only takes me a little over half an hour to get there by bus. Hell, if all busses fail my folks could pick me up in 10 minutes.

And we've set very clear rules about showing up and stuff for the project.
One guy didn't shop up a few times and we've given him a warning, and ever since he's always there. Which is excellent, good guy...
But one of our teammates is momentairily suffering heartbreak... he's kinda depressed and now he hasn't come to meetings several times. We've given him warning too, and we're gonna talk about it later on...
At least he can always give the presentation to make it up to us a little, cos he's the best at that...
All'll work out, I'm not worried :)

Well that's good, so long as everyone is contributing. I always hated doing group projects in school because the idiots in my group would never do the work...

Good luck with the interviews. You may as well interview as much as possible until you know you've landed one. If your first one went well, I'm sure they'll give you a call. But aren't internships where you work for the experience? I didn't think they paid you since you're technically still in school...

Yeah but it's a fulltime job, you can't have any job besides it... So yeah we should ask for at least € 250 a month, that's not even 2 bucks an hour! And some companies aren't even willing to spend that! Interns are always being used...

So yeah, the first interview, I got a call and I'm in, only thing is, they don't pay! If they like my work I can earn points on each project and at the end of my internship I can swap those for money or for a training... ok, so that's pretty much bull...

My interview today went great too, they want me too, and they're willing to pay, only thing is it's a damn long distance to travel... more than Rotterdam... so yeah, I'm willing to go for that if I can work less hours a week so that I can go home on time, and thus prolly spread it over a few more weeks...
I'll have to try 'n work that out... shouldn't really be a problem, those guys were really cool...

I got one more to go, next wednesday... but mebbe I should apply for some more... if there's anything interesting left...
But yeah, it just doesn't get any less informal than the two I mentioned above... why do those two have such stupid disadvantages?

Well how far away is this other one? You get to ride the trains for free anyway don't you? If you get some pay it might be worth it, I mean you won't really have anything else to do during the day right? Since you won't have any schoolwork or whatever...although I know cutting in on free time can be a drag, but it's only for a few months isn't it? The extra distance might be worth it if you were wanting a little extra spending cash.

Yeah I know... I'm not going for the one nearby anyhow, I think they just got the wrong attitude...
It's very normal here to get paid for internships, if they don't pay you they're exploiting you, that's the word right? That's the whole nation's opinion, simple as that...
You think they get free employers just like that? Seriously, if that's the way it's done in the US I say you're being screwed...
Sure you're still in school, but you're already half professionals, of course you don't work for full loan, but you don't work for free...

And to be honest, I'd sorta already decided I wanna work at the long distance company, just had to figure out how to work those distances... it's the feeling the company gives you, you know? I mean, if you don't like the atmosphere you shouldn't work there...
But yeah it's like 2 hours to get there... first the bus to the station, then the train to Rotterdam, then the subway to Spijkenisse, then another bus to get to the company... it's pretty screwed, but yeah, I do kinda like traveling from one place to another, guess it's the motion or something... That and simply getting to spend time not having to think about squad :p
As long as I don't have to carry my heavy laptop-bag every day...

Actually yeah, I think interns here get paid too, just not full salary. I must have been thinking about something else.

Well if it's worth it then go for it, the experience will help, and if you like that company maybe they will hire you after you graduate. Good luck hon! ;)

Thx hon ;)

I send the one nearby an email and they said they'll reconsidder paying me, so yeah, fingers crossed!
And I got another 2 interviews, just gotta call them back to make an appointment... can never go to too many interviews you know...

I'm actually surprized how well I do at job interviews, I thought I'd be a nervous wreck, afraid of what they'd ask me and stuff... but I'm seriously relaxed, and they all love me :D
Guess I wasn't that far off when I said I'd blow them away with my dazzeling personality ;p
