Streets FTW

Yo Kiddies,

Just got back from The Streets gig, had a freakin' blinding time. Professor Green opened proceedings, was pretty decent. All his songs seemed to be pretty phallic like, but he was funny as a bitch. He kept laying new lyrics over beats we all know (a Streets track, a Neo track, that sort of thing). Was alright but I won't go out of my way to see him again like.

Sway was on after and I've got to say, I was hyped because I'd heard he was the support. He was immense, came on and busted out all the hits with a particularly memorable performance of Up Your Speed.

"BIRMINGHAM!"
us: "UP YOUR SPEED!"
"BIRMINGHAM!"
us: "UP YOUR SPEED!"
ENGLAND!
us: "CHANGE GEAR!"

Was generally a great performance like and Sway did a great finish:

"So, any of you gonna go buy my album after this?"
*cheers*
"Aye, so any you gonna download my album"
*louder cheers*
"Any of you going to illegally download it?"
*huge cheers*
"Ah right, well this is for you kids then"

And he goes into Download and does a cracking version. The song is basically about people downloading his album and stealing from him. It was great and very powerful too. Generally a great performance by the guy who I know have a load more respect for him.

By this point, the crowd are getting quite lairy and in the mood for Skinner's performance. After about a 15 minute break (with some Busta Rhymes...yeah, that's right...BREAK YO NECK FOO!) the lights go dark and a cheer erupts from the crowd.

A tropical scene, complete with palm tree comes onto the back screen and The Streets band walk out and get into position and start playing...followed by Mike Skinner and Leo, decked out in pastel suits (and gemmed ear pieces) to explode onto us. Their set started with Pranging Out, a pretty decent choice, getting us all in the mood and bouncing around, but it was bettered by the next track...DONT MUG YOSELF, THATS RIGHT, DON'T MUG YOSELF!

LEAVE IT OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT!

Ahem, anyways, it was a pretty bitching performance with some great improv's by Leo and Mike. Mike busted out a bit of "I BET THAT YOU LOOK GOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR" which was qquite humerous. The best one though was Leo, mid song, busting into:

"Don't you wish your boyfriend was hot like me?
Don't you wish your boyfriend was a freak like me?
Don't you wish your boyfriend was hot like me?
Don't you wish your boyfriend could lick pussy like me?"

Was freakin' hilarious and he was busting a great dance at the same time. Mike also was talking about Leo's "big secret", which he revealed after the performance of When You Wasn't Famous.

"This guy here, Leo, fired two members of Mystique!"

Legend.

Some of the best songs they did were: Fit But You Know It, Don't Mug Yourself, Let's Push Things Forward, Pranging Out and Blinded by the Lights. I thought Dry Your Eyes Mate and Never Went to Church were a bit out of place like and the fact that he didn't do Momento Mori was dissapointing.

Oh man, just listening to a free Sway demo I got and he's rapping over Xzibit's old beat, Paparazzi. What a track man.

Anyways, peace.

Nick.
