It's the final push for nominations
There is less than week left to nominate for round four. Now is the time to get them in.
I will tell you now, if you don't get them in, your favorites may be in danger of not being nominated. Our numbers are still low. Here are where our numbers are, compared to the last round:
* Less than 50% the number of participants sending in nominations
* 25% in the total number of nominations
* 25% in the number of individual stories nominated
* 2 categories that may not run as they do no have enough nominations to run
* Several categories that do have enough to run, are doing so with stories that only have two nominations.
I expected somewhat smaller numbers this round, but nothing like this. It's disheartening to see what I can only imagine to be one of two things: the dwindling of our corner of fandom or lack of interest in the awards. I've always said that the awards belong to the SS/HG community. When the community is no longer interested, then the awards will stop running. I'm also considering the idea of changing how we take nominations for the next round, to compensate for smaller participation. But we'll save that discussion for another day.
In the meantime, we really do need you to get those nominations in. So, here are a few tips for finding eligible stories. Check out your favorite lists at the archives. Go back through the sshg_exchange from last round. Take a look at this post at lovedraughts, which lists posts of authors who listed their eligible stories. (Also, they've updated the list with this latest post.) There are several other resources out there that could help, as well, such as harmony_bites' list of shorts, novellas, and longer length stories. (Please note that she is only human and could have missed a few!) And don't forget to check current WIPs!! We are seeing lots of nominations for completed fics, but nominations for WIPs -- even giving consideration to the smaller number of current WIPs -- are way, way down.
