That's some serious insomnia...

Apr 21, 2010 10:08

So, even with AmbienCR I found myself, at 4am, in the bathroom reading the phone book.

There has got to be something better.

Also, this sounds like it should be on FML, but it's really my life.

Of course there is something better, Amazon is filled with better books than the phone book!

Mafia Wars on Facebook! Or Farmville! Beats the phone book...

Nonono. The point is that I should have been sleeping.

Yep, that happens to me too. Even taking the slw-release at 11, it took me until about two to drop off and I was up at five. Hates it, precious.

Yeah, the CR is the controlled release stuff. It's the only thing that even comes close to working anymore. Though, at this point, it's not working that well anymore. Part of the problem is that you're not supposed to use most sleep aids every night, but I have insomnia every night. So... yeah.

I usually figure that once I've done three or five nights in a row (depending on where in the week it falls in regards to my lectures) where I've copped both slow-sleep and early waking, then I'll drop the Stilnox (what Ambien's called over here). I'm really hoping that the event described above can be chalked up to massive stress pre-wedding, and with luck the next time I need to take it, it will work. Are you like me - had insomnia since early teens, but they were stupid and treated you with benzos then so now you can take temazepam and just keep on truckin'? If I could go back and find that first doctor who thought it was a good idea to hand that shit out to a 14 year old, he'd still be feeling the kicking I gave him.

Something like that, yeah. I don't recall exactly what drug it was they had me on as a pre-teen/teen, but it was something you weren't supposed to take more than three times per week due to addiction issues.

Plus, it doesn't help that I was on prescription speed (Dexedrine) for ADHD from the age of 6 or 7 until I started refusing to take it anymore at about 13/14.
