I love my pups.

I read Mandy's post about her dogs and it reminded me about something cute this morning.

Every morning when I wake up my puppies sit next to my bed and wait for me. It's pretty much ritual for them to put their heads in my lap when I sit up. They follow me around before I take them outside, then sit outside the bathroom while I shower. Every morning after I'm ready to leave we'll go out front. I'll start the car and back it out the gate, then talk to them for a minute and hug them goodbye, then put them inside. Well, this morning Max was being more playful than usual. You'd have to know him to understand this, but his face shows more expression than most dogs. I'd say any dog I've ever seen, actually. Well, when I told him to come inside he would bow his head, look at me, and wag his tail. I promise you he was grinning. So I called him in again, and he walks in a circle, comes up to me and nudges me, and then runs to the yard again. I started walking to him and he tensed up like he was going to dodge me, tail just wagging. I know this game, so I turned my back on him. I walked away a few feet and looked back. He was just standing there with his head cocked sideways and a curious look on his face. So I asked them if they wanted a cookie, and Lexy barks from in the house. She's just sitting at the doorway watching. Max bounces inside and runs to the pantry. I follow them, forgot to close the front door. When I give them their treats Max runs out front with it again. He tried to eat it in the dirt and got a mouth full of sand. That was hilarious. I called him a dummy. After he ate it I asked him to follow me inside. He just sat down on the spot. I squatted in front of him and actually explained I have to go to work and can't take him with me because my workplace wouldn't let me take him inside. So he layed down on his belly and his face squished up when he put it on his paws. He got real pathetic. He's good at that.

I finally got him inside when I went in and sat in my chair. Gave them a hug and walked out the front door. Max stuck his head in the door to stop me. He looked sad. I promised I'd come straight home to see him.

I'm such a dope.
