we went to the sacandaga river for the first time. the river is a lot closer to us and it's better in some ways. the wave trains are huge and there is a LOT of water (4000cfs vs. 700cfs at the deerfield). It will be the perfect place to learn how to surf well. the river is short and there are a couple of play spots at the end that we played in for almost 2 hours.
we did a ton of enders in the one big hole. we could get completely vertical almost 3/4 of the way out of the water. Rob hit his roll less than half the time and there was a lot of rescuing on my part. i saved rob at least a dozen times, dad a few times and frank a few times. As soon as they would go over i'd paddle up to them and give them a lil help. i did my share of enders too, it was such a cool feeling to get that vertical. we've definatly gotta try that more.

http://community.webshots.com/photo/150023687/150033025BiUCcN i hit all but 2 of my rolls today. the first one i could have been rescued by rob but i wasn't even thinking about it. the second time i filled my boat with water and was just messing around. i tipped over and didn't have a chance to get back up with all that water.
They also have a descent sized waterfall that i want to try soon. it's a semi-circle shape the pours into one spot in the middle. there is a pool shortly after and another small section of rapids. there are a lot of vertical wall faces and some undercut rocks from what the people say. someone died there last summer because of it. it looks safe enough to me, and if we went with a few ppl who have done it before i think we'd be fine.
i guess that's good for now...
