There are rules for what you can say, what is politically correct and what words can be used by some people but not by others. Add to the complexity the countless professionals in communication with some experts who performed some scientific study that somehow proves that words only count for something like 7% of a message. With what I also assume is a rare mystical ability to correctly use "your and you're" or "there, their, and they're"; it's probably a good thing that it counts for so little. But make sure "how you say it" will be interpreted to what you are actually saying. Since people will see things completely differently, what the hell is the point of using words at all then? Just grunt and snort with the right tone, pitch and body language so they don't get distracted by words you've used in your message.
Since thats all crystal clear, have you ever witnessed in general conversation (not an argument) someone getting offended at how something was said to them? Maybe having some surprising and emotional eruption of accusation and generally losing their shit with something like:
"Don't talk to me like I'm a fucking idiot" or "how dare you talk to me like a child" or something else just as subtle to make it known they will not tolerate such treatment - I assume 'how' it was said doesn't change the message into "I want to have your babies". In your experience, after time to calm down, explanations and perhaps a little ego stroking did it end up being right? At the time (though probably afterwards), was it the actual intent to call them a fucking idiot or treat them like a child or was it a misunderstanding?
If it usually ends up being a misunderstanding, whoever got offended should consider they're not quite the expert interpreter they believe. Odds are probably not in their favour that next time will end up differently validating their judgement. Perhaps it's time "what was said" was was given a little attention. If I want to call someone a "fucking idiot" or actually offend them, please trust that I am more than capable and had some fairly valid experience using actual words to offend someone. Oh since we are back to using words, apologies for the use of the word "fucking"... Wait, actually no its my journal and not exactly holding knives to peoples throats to force them to read so I will end with something that might help:
They're = They Fucking Are
Their = Indicates Fucking Possession
There = A Specific Fucking Location
We're = We Fucking Are
Were = Past Tense of Fucking 'Are'
You're = You Fucking Are
Your = Indicates Fucking Possession
Than = A Fucking Comparison
Then = A Point in Fucking Time
To = A Fucking Direction
Too = A Fucking Excessive Amount
Two = A Fucking Number
You're welcome!! :)
