Sarah is Going Bald to Raise Money for Pediatric Cancer - Please Help!!

Feb 24, 2008 01:16

Dear Friends and Loved Ones -

About three weeks from now, I am participating in a national fundraiser called "St. Baldrick's Day." In order to help "raise awareness and funds to cure kids' cancer," I will be shaving my head! (Joining about 18,000 other "Shavees" in 46 U.S. states, D.C., and 13 countries!)
St. Baldrick's Foundation is the "world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research," and I'm spectacularly excited about joining the ranks of those working for this amazing cause. I had a friend participate in St. Baldrick's Day 2007, and he raised over $400 for the Foundation! Watching him have 16 years worth of hair shaved off, I was so awestruck that I made a promise with a friend; that day, we swore that a year from then (March 2008) we would shave our heads too for this incredible charity!
And now I will be.
In addition to raising money for St. Baldrick's Foundation by shaving my head, I will also be donating the hair that's cut off to "Wigs For Kids", an organization that provides complimentary wigs to children who have lost their hair due to "medical treatments, health conditions, or burn accidents."
This is where YOU come in. My fundraising goal is $1000. This means that I am asking you; friend, family member, acquaintance, neighbor - please help me meet my goal by donating in my name, as an official St. Baldrick's Day Shavee (ID# S-23753), and help me fight pediatric cancer!
I am asking for any donation that you can afford to give for this spectacular cause. Whether that means $10, or $30, or $50, or $103.47 between you & 3 friends - every penny you can give matters! Below you will find a downloadable .pdf of my St. Baldrick's Foundation Donation Form, a link to donate directly via their website, as well as some other important links to check out related to this event.
You have multiple options regarding HOW TO DONATE. You can a) go directly to my Shavee Information Page on the St. Baldrick's website and click the "Donate Online" Tab; b) On my Shavee Info Page, you can download, print & mail in the .pdf Donation Form; or c) if you'll see me between now and March 15th, hand me cash or check (made out to St. Baldrick's Foundation). Be sure to include my first & last name and ID# (S-23753) on the check’s memo line.
And for an extra treat, be sure to check out the “Before” and “After” photos of myself I’ll have on my Shavee Info Page (and other places)!
Thank You for taking the time to read this letter and for any donation you can afford to give!

Warmest Regards
-Sarah
