Sort of an important notice

Yesterday, my Twitter account was suddenly hacked and used to send spam tweets about some 'weight loss' solution - luckily, I only have two followers there.

However, seeing as I don't ever click on any links from random e-mails/messages, much less be foolish enough to type my username and pass on Phishing pages, I've come to several conclusions ( Read more... )

It happened to my AIM email the other day. What's more likely is that someone brute-forced it; i.e. they used a program that enters thousands of combinations of letters and numbers per second and just left it running until something worked. I had that same fear, and my AIM account is fine.

Yeah. Twitter also has this security hole where you can try repeatedly to access an account as long as you have different IP addresses; it won't stop you unless you're retrying on the same address, and that makes it easier to use those programs.

Anyways, I've changed the password on that, and the spam stopped.
