Mission: "Goodnight, Goodbye" debrief

Mar 11, 2012 13:48

The mission Goodnight, Goodbye was technically successful, but at a steep, steep cost.

The mission log can be read here and here.  The side log can be read here.

Important Notes:
- Only one of the hostages, Ami Futami, was genuine.  The other, Yukiho Hagiwara, was in fact a plant by Turiavita.
- As for why Turiavita left Ami alive, the answer seems to relate to the fifth iDOL, Tempestas, which made itself known partway through the battle.  The iDOL had actually gone missing, trapped in a pocket dimension, after a freak accident seven years prior at the base.  Ami's twin sister, Mami, had been the one piloting it.  Whether due to the presence of the other four iDOLs or the danger Ami was in or some mix of both, Tempestas did return.
- Haruka's iDOL key was destroyed and Imber was taken by Chihaya Kisaragi.  In spite of efforts by the White Chalice pilots, Chihaya made off with the machine.
- Epimetheus was completely destroyed as it autonomously rose to stop New Fusion's last attempt at killing the White Chalice pilots.  Tempestas was similarly devastated, though its core remained intact.
- Any other day, Luger would have been chewed out for cowardice due to fleeing from battle.  However, he got due to having captured Epimetheus's pilot.

Damages:
- The Dominator was hammered quite a bit, though it's thankfully regenerating and will be better in another day or two.
- Devon had a very nasty close-call with Nubilum's lasers, and her whole body is going to ache for the better part of the week.  Her arm is going to take even longer to get back up to 100%.  Until then, she's been told to take it easy, but knowing Devon that might as well be just pissing in the wind.
- Desu Blanc and Noir were beat around a bit and have both taken semi-significant damage.  Noir should be ready for battle in another six days, Blanc in another ten.
- Luger's Leo fortunately only got off with losing part of one leg and wrecking the motors in its left arm.  It'll be repaired in about five days.
- The damage to Nebula was extensive, with both of its arms and much of its body wrecked.  Though the mechanics assure us it can be repaired, there's no telling how long it'll take before it's combat-capable again.
