And they have portable HPGs. Which means they will begin renting that technology to other factions, as they do in my universe.

What's an HPG? I'm not very proficient in military jargon from another reality, I'm afraid.

Hyper Pulse Generator. Faster than light communication.

Faster than light? How does that even work?

I don't know the exact details, as I am not a Scientist. However it is based on the same Kearny-Fuchida drives that power jumpships: a compact hyperspace field is formed, but this time carrying a squirt of data instead of a vessel.

You know, after all this war is over and we actually have the time to analyze and implement all the new technologies, I expect human technology to progress forward at least 50 years. Or more.

Seems we need to take care of one more group before that can happen, though. At least they're selling radios and not WMDs.

That depends on who wins it. They played an active role in the suppression of technology in the Inner Sphere for hundreds of years, and would probably wish to do the same here.

I'd like to see them try. I doubt any of their potential allies share that agenda, and alone... There's so much crap threatening Earth right now, I don't think they're even in the top 5.

The Blakists do not shy away from dishonorable tactics and have the best intelligence agency in the Inner Sphere. They would have no problem lying to their allies, and once they put themselves into an indispensable position, they are ready to hold the Earth Sphere hostage. They are not as dramatic a threat as the Invaders but they are not to be discounted.

Well, I'll know what they're up to if they ally themselves with someone, then. But if they want to put their Luddite plan to life, they will meet several big obstacles on their way.

This ship is one of them.
