[Chrono gestures at the door and it slides open; the look on his face suggests a Newtype was not what he was expecting to see.]
Kamille Bidan... wait, math? Yes, Midchildan magic is an exercise in doing mental math that the average Terran child would run in fear of doing on paper, but what would you need that for?
[shakes his head.] It's not the math aspect I need help with. In my experience, mathematicians always seemed to have a fair hand when it came to coding complex algorithms for computers. Your devices seemed to be similarly complex computers, after a fashion, so I thought maybe you could help me with a coding issue I'm having.
I suspect I could help with that, yes; the code for a Device is a nightmare for a simple one, let alone something Raising Heart or Bardiche. Is something wrong with your Gundam?
[nods, hands him a tablet with Zeta Gundam's OS on it.] I don't know what the hell I'm missing. The coding seems to check out whenever I run diagnostics, but the moment I try and turn the thing on for real, it shuts down on me. I was able to get it out and about for 5 hours, tops, and the damn thing is supposed to run indefinitely. [The coding should check out from what you see, perhaps a trip to the MS in question is in order?]
[Chrono reviews the programming for a few minutes, shaking his head.] This is all it takes to move a mobile suit? I prefer my magic, but... this isn't beyond us. In any event, I can't see any problems from here...
Why don't we go look at Zeta? Maybe we'll find something on closer inspection.
[And off to the Zeta they go. Once they're in the cockpit, Kamille boots up the Gundam in safemode... or tries, anyway.] You're kidding... [turning it off, he pries open the keyboard and looks at the melted wiring with a rather pissed off eye.] God damnit. How could this have happened? These things are supposed to withstand a hell of a lot, too. I've never had this problem with the Mk-II. Where's the anti-heat coating? [likely melted into the wires at this point.]
...You know, when a Device gets like this, it's usually from overuse. Even modern magitech can only do so much to protect a mage from herself, and typically her Device stops responding just before her Linker Core starts to damage her from overexertion.
To run with that trend, do you have any special parts on here? Anything that might be bad to overuse, or that wasn't designed for repeated engagements in a short time like we get into?
... The Bio-sensor. It was something that they threw in at the last minute, but I've been making a lot of use out of the thing. Perhaps too much, in fact. It stands to reason that the good folks at Anaheim had no idea what constant use of such a thing would do to the onboard electronics... [looking at Chrono.] Do you have any sort of material that could help reduce the sudden burst of energy's impact on the electronics?
[Chrono sighs.] Well, that's not a common occurrence. "Hey, our people are getting shot, let's give them a powerup that we want them to only rarely use and throw them into war."
Not so much materials, but I've got plenty of parts. Cartridge systems like Nanoha and Fate are using have quite a few parts in them that serve to make sure the excess energy from their cartridges doesn't backfeed into the Device, or the user. A few of those in strategic places might help regulate the energy flow in the right directions, or help keep it under control.
