100 hours =/= a nap

[[As par for the course, Gainer is, once again, playing his game, somewhere publically. This would normally not be unusual except for the... well... absurd win streak and 'hours played this session' that appears between matches on the little display screen that lets others watch him play without jacking his headset and ruining his life.

Resnick watches, impressed until he sees the time count. Then he goes beyond impressed into flabbergasted. He picks up a headset.

"Some kind of endurance test, sibbie?" Which is the Clan equivalent of 'kid'.

Also, he has to wonder, what happens when he has to eat. Or poop.

"No... I just don't have anything else to do.

Did you want something?" Resnick, of all people, interrupting him... He was already pissy to begin with...

At first he was just curious, but being summarily dismissed had riled up his pride. "Actually I was going to challenge you."

"In a real battle, or on this game..." Gainer wasn't even batting an eye as he took out yet another player opponent. Fuso players were good, but, not good enough!

"You probably won't win either one."

"Well, since we are both here, we might as well use this." Gainer looks pretty good, but his ego won't let him admit that this could be walking right into a trap.

Did you see any losses counted up in those one-hundred-and-three hours?

His only equal is Cynthia, and you are not her, Resnick.

Finishing up his current match he backs out, thus, ending his online time streak (and netting him another online title) to play offline local.

Character select, Resnick. Programmers have updated it with a lot of Gundam/Universal Century, and Personal Trooper units (SRW units), but nothing Robotech yet. Choose your poison. Gainer's sticking with his titular unit; King Gainer

He may not be the Hot Topic loli but he's tiers above the mooks he's been chewing through.

No mechs he's familiar with, and they mostly seem like the fragile land/air type he'd give three of his fingers before trusting his life to one. He chooses Zeon's standard ground MS, opting for the clip-fed bazooka. Combined with the wave-gun, he thinks he can force Gainer to defend against two different types of fire at once with his photon mat.

When the match starts, he goes sensors-off, hoping to force Gainer to come down to the pixelated rolling hills.

Resnick's selection was laughable, but Gainer wasn't one to laugh. He wasn't going to play with kid gloves like he does with Adette either. He's trying to make her improve.

Resnick should know how to pilot, but good luck with those controls.

Gainer wastes no time opening with what was programmed as a MAPW/area attack, the OverFreeze. The entire hillside is blanketed with snow and icicles. Even being in that area is going to cause damage, getting caught has a damn good chance of getting encased in ice too.

If he were using his own mech, this would actually help him, as he tended to run way too hot. As it was, he was in the unusual situation of having to heat his mech up in a hurry. Sensors went active again (so much for stealth, he was flushed out like a rabbit, a metaphor he disliked being on the other end of quite a bit) by King Gainer's area effect weapon. Then the solution hit him.

He fired the bazooka at the ground nearby. Though it bit into his armor in places, the heat from the blast helped shake off some of the ice. It also started him sliding backwards along it, effectively skating. He leveled the bazooka for his first shot at Gainer and fired for area effect too, propelling himself sideways with this shot to throw off Gainer's next. If he wasn't gonna beat the game champ, he was at least gonna make him work for it.

Of course, Gainer puts up the Photon Mat Ring and plows through the blast the photons soaking up the impact while the Long-Haired Overman rushes through the explosion.

But, of course, that's an explosion he's going through, clouding his vision for just a moment, not that anything could potentially hit him at King Gainer's average speed.

He's not aiming to hit him. He's aiming to force the photon mat to block one side while sneaking a shot in through the other. The thrusters activate (jump jets, he think of them as), with what would be a bone jarring impact in a real MS which sees his momentum reverse as the ice runs out.

Another high shot with the bazooka, forcing him to cover high with the photon mat, and then immediately afterwards the backup wave-motion gun fires, aiming at wherever he had to shift the photon mat away from.

In reality, the second shot would have probably made him block in some other direction, but, the game's physics, both shots are soaked up by defending, allowing him to proceed forward after only a small amount of hesitation.

"This isn't like real life you know. It's not always going to go the way you want!"

The next shot from the bazooka is side stepped, any homing from the shot lost as it whiffs by, letting him sidestep the wavemotion canon. And with the Dom locked in attack animations, it's a free hit to the face from Gainer's first unique skill, "Over... MultiKick!"

((Everything following Gundam vs EXTREME's gameplay rules.))

Eighty tons of simulated metal goes tumbling end over end.

"Savashri stravag surat!" He swears. Gainer might recognize the Russian.

Resnick frantically jukes the joystick to the side, trying to get the Dom out of its getting-up animating in time to avoid a followup blow.

((Damnit Zappa I only played that once, with you, and I couldn't get Loran to stop humping things))

Don't worry, there's invincibility frames while recovering.

Frames Gainer knows all too well. As soon as the Dom recovers, it's juggling time. Rapid, pre-rendered strikes while Gainer drains his OverSkill bar.

[[Enjoy your visuals.]]

He is, but damned if he'll admit it. This isn't much like an actual mech battle.

The Dom's health drops to zero and explodes and he thinks it's all over but then...a second Dom for him, at the respawn point! He doesn't question it, just locks on to King Gainer and lets fly with both (literal) barrels.

Guess there's at least some advantage to taking the mook suits.

"You might have respawned, but are you sure you want to keep going like that. You haven't even hit me yet. You're at a huge disadvantage here."
