Kensuke was at the bars now, gripping them in shaking hands. Just the sounds of Cheng's voice made his feel better despite everything that had happened.

"Please, tell me there is an explanation, and I'll believe you. I know you're not a bad teacher or a traitor, and I don't care about apologies." He blurted it out, his voice cracking as he did. "You don't even have to tell me now, just..." He wanted someone to soothe his fears, and he still trusted Cheng very much, his loyalty was fierce, though his face was not.

[He gives Kensuke a glance and wished that there was more that he could do, or say to help his student deal with the anxiety, the stress... everything he was feeling now.]

Just be strong. If I live past this... I'll tell you. I have no doubts that you would outlast me.

Kensuke didn't say anything for a long moment, he sat down on the ground and pulled his knees to his chest feeling quite small and helpless.

"I'll believe you." His voice was small, but his honestly could be heard in his voice. "You taught me how to be strong in the first place. I would never have made it this far with out everything you've taught me. And when we get out of here, I hope... I hope you'll still be my teacher."

Perhaps...

[Cheng doesn't say any more than that, merely giving Kensuke a small nod before slumping against the wall of his cell.]
