Orders from up high came down to Orlando & Josh that since they were going to go out and scavenge anyway they were to do some trading at a local trade outpost for various supplies; stock up on anything that seemed useful. Surely, Orlando insisted upon some pay for the service, which he would receive.
Likewise, Cheng was sent to go with them for the same purpose, but more to guard them than and the trade goods than anything.
The town was run down, but it had goods. The people there used something of a peculiar currency: bullets. Any kind of ammunition had a different value, with BBs like pennies.
The locals were also on edge, because if anyone was listening to the talk around town it seemed that a warlord was in town to trade today. "I just don't like it. Those Wolves are bad news. We shouldn't let them into town even if they're just here to trade."
"What are we going to do? Drive them off? Besides they own the old munitions plant. There's no one richer to trade with and we need the ammo."
"I've heard that their leader can dodge bullets, strike fear into people's hearts and kill you with a single punch."
"I've heard that she can punch you a hundred times in a second and make your head explode!"
"Pfft, hahaha, what ? No way, that's ridiculous. There's no way someone can do that."
