"Well if you're feeling to lonely, you can always baby sit her highness." Haman returned his sarcasm with playful threats, it was always refreshing to find someone with enough balls to poke fun at her. Most pilots cowered in fear, or sang praises to the heavens when she was around, it was nice to get shit from someone now and again. "Never an imposition to help such a bright young Ace. I won't give you the plans though, at least not as thing are now, so don't bother asking. My secrets, are Zeon's secrets after all."
"So much for plan A." Kamille shrugs. "I don't suppose you have a couple of spares you can let me toy around with? I'm trying to see if I can't create something viable for my own machine. Zeta's good, but judging by the Gundam Project, it can be better, and I'm not about to let some Federation toy beat me out."
"It's a bit more complicated than that. There is alot of politics when it comes to sharing technologies. The Funnel System is one of Zeon finest weapons, if we gave away how it worked, others could use those against us." Haman paused, she wasn't scolding him, so much as informing him, really. "All technical data on the funnel system can only be accessed by Zeon's military." she crossed her arms and smirked deviously. "So if you want them, you'll have to join us." Haman was teasing him, but showed no sign of it really. She wanted to know how he would react anyways.
"Oooh, you drive a hard bargain, Lady Karn." He smiled at Mineva briefly before turning back at Haman. "I mean, how can anyone not want to be ruled by someone as sweet as Lady Mineva? However, on the other hand, I do love being able to give you a hard time without fear of being executed, so I'm going to have to pass."
"I've never executed someone for teasing me, Kamille." She looked a bit insulted but the idea. Did people really believe she was so evil? And if so, it begged the question, Am I truly 'evil'?
"I wouldn't call Mashimyer a 'pansy' per say. Perhaps 'emotional' and 'devoted' are better words to you." The smirk on her face was devious. "I mean, at least I have subordinates." Which was to say: I have an army, what have you got?
"You may have subordinates, but I don't necessarily have to wait for the go ahead from HQ to do anything as a freelancer." I've got an open market for my ideas.
"Isn't it, though?" Haman smirked. " If you want the funnels you know where I'll be." For a moment the look in her eyes saw deadly serious, despite the way the corners of her thin lips curled. "Zeon has the technology to make you great. You have the skill, make sure you don't squander it, alright?" Then she looked down and Mivena and put her hand on her head. "Tell Camille goodbye, Mineva. We can go now." The little girl smiled brightly. "Bye, Camille." How could anyone look at that face and think Zeon was all bad?
That was why after a few hours, Kamille could be found waiting near Haman's door. He knew that the Zeta could go farther, he just needed access to resources that could take him there.
Haman had only just sent off Mineva for bed, and settled into her paper work when she felt Kamille outside the door. She let him wait a bit, smiling to herself, it was impossible not to feel a newtype as strong as Kamille, at least to someone like Haman.
Before she opened the door, she opened a drawer and set out two wine glasses, and a bottle. The boy was young, but there might be something to celebrate.
She opened the door from the inside and leaned out. "I wasn't expecting you so soon." Haman smiled knowingly. Her usual playful malice was suddenly replaced by a strange warmth, and sagely nature. "Come in."
"Lady Karn... Thank you for letting me in." Kamille walked in, taking a seat where he could face the de facto leader of Axis. "I was initially going to give it some more time to think it over, actually, a couple of days at the least. However, it occured to me that in doing so, I'd be wasting my time twiddling my thumbs and doing a whole lot of nothing. I can't do much with the resources on hand to help my friends at the moment, but joining you would help me get around that."
He leaned forward, his hands steepled in front of his face. "Adventus is gone, yes, but I feel like we're experiencing the calm before a raging storm. The battle with that mobile city reminded me that there are still large conflicts occuring across the Earth Sphere, and that we're likely to get drawn into a lot of these battles."
He looked directly into Haman's eyes, his seriousness about his decision easy to read for his fellow Newtype. "What do you need from me in order to take me into the fold of Axis?"
"You're a young man with alot of talent, and alot to offer any faction. You know what you want, and you realize how to get it. I respect these things about you. They are attributes I prize very highly in my best men." Haman sat down now, and crossed her legs, leaning back in her chair. It was obvious in her tone that all joking was aside, this was the voice of the woman who commanded the armies of space.
"It will take more than words to join up, but you already expected that, I'm sure. But trust me, with your exemplary display in battles here on the Chalice, and my good word, we could be fitting your uniform next week. Sooner if you can get Char to sign off on it as well." Haman turned to her desk an shuffled through some paper work, before turning back to him. She had a slip of paper in her hand. "We'll have to submit a form request to the council. Your first lesson, in Zeonic Bureaucracy." Haman smiled softly. "But I want you to understand something first." She looked him in the eyes so that he would understand the depth of her words. " Zeon will make you great, but you will have to swear your unfaltering allegiance to Lady Mineva and to Zeon. Can you do that, Kamille?" Her words where calm, and her tone was rich and sweet. Haman only wanted him to be sure of his decision but she fully accept his offer. She wanted him on her side, dearly, but it was more important that he wanted to be there as well.
It takes him a few moments of staring at the paper, before he nods at the woman before him. "I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that I will work to serve both Lady Mineva and Zeon to the best of my ability. You can count on me, Lady Haman." Now how to get Char to go along with this...
"Well if you're feeling to lonely, you can always baby sit her highness."
