So, I’m home.
I just wanted to talk about my userpic really quickly. My daddy made it for me, and posted it for me. I found out that he specifically made it to look like me. He chose the hair style, gave it Roni features, did the music in the background because I love to sing, and gave it a backpack because I travel all the time.
I think that’s really awesome.
Secondly, I wrote a little children’s-type story for my mom for Mother’s Day (a very late Mother’s Day) gift, and I decided to post it here.
Stomper the elephant likes to stomp,
his feet make a loud “clomp clomp clomp”
as he goes about his happy day,
stomping and clomping along the way.
Kyra the meerkat likes to hide
as she darts beneath Stomper’s mighty stride,
as she tells him all about her happy day,
giggling along and chattering away.
Stomper and Kyra are the best of friends,
to the woes and moans of their families and friends.
They’d run away to dance and play,
and go about their happy day.
Then, hyenas attacked Kyra’s family -
a very scary thing, you must believe!
But Stomper arrived to save the day,
and he chased the hyenas far, far away!
So of Kyra and Stomper, her family was proud,
and her and Stomper’s friendship was allowed.
So they laughed and played along the way,
throughout their very happy day.
One day, Stomper was very sad,
something bad had happened, something very bad.
Kyra volunteered to find the lost ring,
and she vowed to return it to his poor Great Aunt Ming.
Kyra ran along the ground,
and she found it beside a termite mound!
She and Stomper went out to play
and have another happy day.
Stomper and Kyra are the best of friends,
and so are their friends and kin.
Meerkats need someone big to chase away rotten finks,
and elephants need someone small to find their lost things.
Meerkats and elephants go off to play,
and have many, many happy days.
The End
There’s a story behind the story. Five or six, possibly even seven, years ago, my mom and I went to the Kansas City Zoo together. My mom loves elephants. They’re quite possibly one of her favorite animals. (I don’t know, because she’d dodged the “favorite” questions as long as I can remember. It took me five tries to find out that blue is her favorite color. Which might have changed by this point. Anyway, I digress.) So when we were at the zoo, we talked about the elephants and visited the elephants. That summer, her cat had died, Kyra Sulu. (Yeah, we don’t like Star Trek at all. Just because her cat was Kyra Sulu, and mine was Alexander McCoy … We mixed up names from Star Trek and combined them purposefully.) Kyra used to go up on hind legs quite a bit, and we called it her “Meerkat position”. So at the zoo, after seeing the elephants? We saw the meerkats. My mom cried.
About a month ago, I and a friend went to the Kansas City Zoo, and I picked up a little elephant for my mom. (Stuffed, not real. I don’t want my daddy to want to kill me.) I was riding in the van one day, and I wrote the first “verse”. Then I wrote the second. And it went on from there.
