Yes, when I wrote the original story, I hewed as closely as possible to the canon dialogue, for the specific purpose of concealing the ‘surprise’ until enough incongruities had accumulated to have people going Wait a minute … The canon lines of Buffy’s first encounter with ‘Angel’ just feel weird in this altered situation. That said, once you ventured out into new territory, it got a lot more interesting.

It’s nice to see that Kathy/Angel took a more active approach to the advent of the Harvest (and the attack on Buffy’s new friends) than Liam/Angel did in the original timeline. Her exasperation with the incompetence of minions - even when it works to her advantage! - is a nice touch. Her effectiveness in combat likewise comes across as original; with Drusilla, Darla, and VampWillow we saw that females could certainly be physically fearsome even to other vampires, but each one had her own style, and Kathy/Angel’s doesn’t seem to copy any of them. It’s as if she accomplishes what she does by way of a direct practicality (just kill the bastards, already!) that doesn’t come naturally to other undead, maybe because they so love to inspire fear and then gloat.

This is a very challenging story to remix. You’re doing intriguing things with it. I await further developments.

Regarding the quoting original dialogue: I was trying to show that even with differences, some things stayed the same, while other things did change. For instance, on the show, Buffy kicked Angel down when he followed her into the alley; in this one, I had Buffy drop down in front of Angel because a guy following her into the alley is legitimate reason to go onto the offensive in and of itself, while a girl isn't. That being said, that's up for me to show, and if I didn't do that, I didn't do that.

As for the rest, thank you very much. I hope that the rest of it lives up to expectations.
