My mom has been ripped off a couple of times, but I'm really pissed off about this one. She rented out our house to this guy who said he works as a contractor close to where we live. He started his contract in December and was late on his January payment. He kept telling my mom he was going to bring the money, but a week passed and nothing. So she went there to collect the rent, and he wrote her a check. Then she stopped by later because he said he couldn't figure out one of the light switches. So we drive by, and he takes the check back and pays her in cash instead minus the late payment fee.
Next month comes around (February) and the same thing happens. He never answers his phone, and she never finds him home. Finally she gets a hold of him and he says he can't come up with the money, so she has to kick them out. It takes them about 2 weeks to pack up and leave. And when they finally do, my mom discovers that they've broken one of the locks, stolen the dryer, and stolen some of the drapes. On top of that, she finds out that he never put the water bill in his name, so she has to pay for his usage, which is around 200 bucks. She tries to contact him, but his number's disconnected. She also doesn't have his checking account information because he took the check back. He was supposed to turn in the keys to the house, but never showed up. So my mom had to change all the locks today. That fucker. I told my mom to call the cops because of everything he stole and has costed her. At least she has his first and last name, hopefully he didn't use someone else's.
