So... We're down to... half a horse?
We had two for lease until crazy owner of Andy wanted her horse back because he was supposedly in poor condition. Erm. No. He's not, you stupid bearded cow face. He's just no longer obese and looking like a sausage roll!
So had the vet out today to verify he's NOT in poor condition and that by taking him back she's breaking the lease contract and that she can then thus pay for the vet bills we got for him (got his teeth done because they hadn't been done in YEARS according to the vet). As I don't generally make a habit out of getting horses from people, spending money on getting them polished up and working readily and training excess fat and flab off of them and building up muscle and what else not, only to have them come around after a month and a bit to get him back.
I'm not a fucking horse rescue, I want something in return (e.g. a horse to ride for several months) or you can reimburse me for the money I blew on YOUR horse.
So since we had the vet out (who said Andy was in fine condition and no worries what so ever and said he was looking fit and not emaciated as his owner made him out to be.) decided to have her check Mel out as she'd been a bit weird with certain things riding wise, she seemed very foot sore on and off and just has no strength in her hindquarters and does everything within her power not to engage her hindquarters and is just not building up muscle because of it.
After some poking and prodding from the vet an some trotting up and down the drive way (painstakingly so) vet said she probably has some arthritic problems. She could do a full lameness examination but alreay said depends on how much you're willing to spend on her.
Again, I'm not a rescue service, I love Mel but she's not my horse! So I told the vet that much and then she suggested starting her on bute with a few days off and then keeping up with that to see how she goes... I just feel sorry for her because she's such a sweet thing and I do love her it's just... ugh. She doesn't deserve this...
So we have one healthy horse who the owner wants back because he's unhealthy according to her and one unhealthy horse which we're probably going to give back to the owner because I just can't afford/don't want to afford that much money on a horse that's not even mine...
Blegh... day of suck. This is why I don't get up early because days tend to suck and then there's sooooo much time left to feel sucky about it.
