Vi everywhere

Feb 20, 2008 00:46

Ever since I started using Vi, I can't think of any other editor. It just got better with Vim. It goes without saying that gvim is the default editor even when I am forced to use Windows. By setting color scheme to zellner and font to Bitstream Vera Sans Mono the looks are also pretty cool. I just wish Vi was more  prevalent in other places too. From what it looks like my wish seems to be coming true.

I ran across JVi plugin for Netbeans and then my friend pointed me to Vimeperator addon for FireFox so that brings in Vi to coding and browsing like never before. Google reader and Gmail also have key bindings similar to that of Vi and I have set my google search engine to use key bindings by appending &esrch=BetaShortcuts to the search URL infact I have made it a part of the quick search for both Opera and FireFox.

Only if I could get it in my email clients too... it will make its way someday. Long Live VI
