This is the way I GM more games

I've been feeling like I've lost my way in my Friday homebrew. Somewhere along the way, I forgot what I was aiming for and now feel like I'm plodding through. My Saturday game, I have lots of ideas and clear milestones of where I'd like to get with the game (and my Saturday module game is pretty much no-fuss, just show up and challenge the characters). It's been distracting because when I think about preparing stuff for D&D, I feel guilty that I'm not preparing anything for the Friday night game.

At the same time, my interest in Pendragon has reignited. I'm anxious to get back to it, but when would I fit it in? Well, I had an idea about that, and after talking with the group, I'm shelving my Friday night game for the time being, and instead I'll start up Pendragon, probably in the middle of next month.

So, that leaves me running one Pendragon campaign (drawing heavily on the GPC) and two D&D games (one homebrew, one store-bought modules). Except...

One of my housemates has been running adventures from the Chaos Scar line in Dungeon. Tonight, we hit 3rd level, in part from some very tough encounters (a brown wyrmling that blinded our strikers and then nearly killed the rogue with claws augmented by a sneak attack power, and later a nasty dragonborn who cut our fighter down), and in part because we found ourselves 165XP shy of the level. The DM opted to recognize our refusing a reward from some farmers, and our decision to take some kobolds prisoners instead of slaughtering them warranted the extra XP. We also got a secure hideout from the deal.

But here's the thing- we've outleveled the path again- until a 3rd level adventure comes out, we'd be stuck dealing with lower level adventures. And there's a bunch of low level adventures to choose from- we played 3 of the 6 first level adventures released, and one of the second. Hey, I mused, there's enough extra adventures out there that I could run a second party doing adventures the first group had skipped (and quite handily, in our new magic hideout, there are 10 rooms, five labeled with our character names- so, rooms for another group of five to hole up in the hideout).

So, probably wait for Martial Power 2 to arrive, and then I'll start running Chaos Scar adventures on some Friday nights (when we're not doing Scales of War, Pendragon, or the other Chaos Scar adventures).
