If you have an account with a username I can recognize, just leave a post and I'll add you right away.
If you have a different username than I know you by, or you want to be added because you like my icons or fanfic but I don't know you, then please leave a comment explaining how you know me (or found me). Comments are screened, so no one else will see your comment. That means you can leave a comment like "Hey, I knew you in the fourth grade, in such-and-such school!" or "We used to chat at such and such website" and it'll be kept private.
"I love your icons on graceicons" type requests are good, too.
If you do not have an account, but would like to view my journal, you can create an account for free and then use it to comment. You'll have to be logged in to see the journal, but LiveJournal lets you set your account to be forever logged in on your computer. And there's no requirement for you to use the journal itself.
