October 2009: A Tribute :D

Oct 25, 2009 20:05

It's not even over yet, and I sincerely think that this has been one of the best months of my life. This is really particularly saying something; I'm one of those people who is in a good mood EVERY DAY ALWAYS 100% OF THE TIME so every month of my life has been good; however, October 2009 just takes the cake in a LOT of ways.

They say that it is healthy to count your blessings. Well, then, in chronological order, I'll count my October 2009 blessings. :D

Saturday, October 3rd. I participate in a speech/forensics competition in Lakeland, Florida. I break into the final rounds with my informative speech and my Program Oral Interpretation and ultimately take 3rd place overall in informative and 2nd place overall in POI, losing only to my own teammates. This is an accomplishment that makes me proud to honor my beloved school.

Later this evening I injure my foot, but this is a good thing, because...

Sunday, October 4th. My foot is clearly injured and my mom convinces me to go to the on-campus hospital. I reluctantly make an appointment for the next day.

Today I would learn that I have a mystery family member. Ever since the new semester started, my mom told me of a long-lost 2nd cousin who is new to FSU. My mom suggests that I befriend this girl and when I agree that this would be a good idea, my mom starts looking for her phone number. Today I get the call from my mom saying that the girls' name is Alison; I realize in shock that I've been friends with this Alison for a month. We randomly met when Pee Wee's Playhouse was showing at FSU's movie theatre. We had been friends with each other for a month, not having any idea that we were blood-related.

Monday, October 5th. Today, it is announced that LittleKuriboh will be appearing at Youmacon. This made me particularly happy because I ALMOST got to meet him at AWA and I had been disappointed that I missed the opportunity. It begins to sink in on me that soon I will be in the same room as the Nostalgia Critic, the Potter Puppet Pals, Wayne Grayson, Michael Sinterniklaas, Team Four Star and now LittleKuriboh all at the same time.

I go to the on-campus hospital and, after a few X-rays and foot massages, find that I've got a partially-torn tendon and bruised ligament in my right foot. The doctor immediately prescribes an ace bandage, an ice pack, and a HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMIT. That night, I parked my car RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY DORM. My friend Colin loved it.

Wednesday, October 7th. I get the confirmation from my University Update boss that I AM allowed to dress up as Seto Kaiba on television; she tells me to write my script, making sure to put Yu-Gi-Oh! references in it.

Tonight, my best guy friends Drew and Colin and I discovered the CiCi's Pizza parlor not far from our dorms. We PIG OURSELVES OUT and spend a good twenty solid minutes laughing at the Frankenstein picture that Colin drew.

Friday, October 9th. The first night of EXP Con. Tonight we would have the first night of our Yu-Gi-Oh! sleepover. Tonight, I met Vic Mignogna, and after taking a particularly hilarious photoshoot with him: http://stinkulousreddous.deviantart.com/art/I-Summon-Vic-Mignogna-139762835 , he became my best friend because he learned that I have waist-length red hair.

Saturday, October 10th. The second day of EXP Con. I brought my little cousins as Noa and Mokuba http://stinkulousreddous.deviantart.com/art/Inches-139911045  with me to EXP Con and got the most INCREDIBLE pictures with all of the Kaiba family members: http://stinkulousreddous.deviantart.com/art/Molding-In-My-Image-139867949. Our Yu-Gi-Oh! group was completed today http://stinkulousreddous.deviantart.com/art/EXP-Con-Yu-Gi-Oh-Group-140071084; our Atem and Dark Magician Girl ultimately won an award in the costume contest as did my friends who dressed up as Terra and Rinoa. Tonight we would go to Applebee's in full cosplay and flirt with a waiter who loved Yu-Gi-Oh. Tonight we would have the last night of our Yu-Gi-Oh! sleepover. Tonight we would take this hideously hilarious picture: http://stinkulousreddous.deviantart.com/art/Domino-High-School-Musical-140728650

Sunday, October 11th. EXP Con comes to a close with our Egyptian photoshoot http://stinkulousreddous.deviantart.com/art/Scouring-the-Palace-140245911 and our Yu-Gi-Oh! Prom photoshoot.

Tuesday, October 13th. I am inducted into an honor society. The induction ceremony is catered by Olive Garden; as I left the ceremony, one of the waiters BEGGED me to take home the extra lasagna and ravioli that didn't get eaten (it was an ENTIRE TUB). I am now doomed to eat Olive Garden ravioli and lasagna for every meal for literally the next WEEK. ...oh darn

Wednesday, October 14th. I am in the news studio, recording my Halloween-weekend segment for my TV show, dressed as Seto Kaiba.

Saturday, October 17th. I participate in another speech competition; I break into finals with my Poetry program and my Program Oral Interpretation piece. I ultimately take third in both events. To celebrate my accomplishments as well as to hang out with a friend from out-of-town, my friends and I go to our favorite sushi restaurant and I eat a piece of carrot cake that is so unbelievably delicious that it is worth fighting wars over.

Monday, October 19th. My iPod broke last Thursday, so I convinced my mom to buy me a 32-gig iPod Touch. I name it the "Millennium Pod."

Friday, October 23rd. FSU's movie theatre is having a giant Rocky Horror Picture Show party (we have Halloween festivities the week before because we always schedule homecoming week to be Halloween weekend). My friends and I all go, and we see some pretty spectacular costumes on fellow attendees.

Saturday, October 24th. Today is the first day that my Seto Kaiba TV segment airs on WFSU in Tallahassee.

We went to CiCi's again and ate 600,000,000,000,000,000 cinnamon rolls again and drew hilarious pictures again.

I'm a semifinalist in a Smash Bros. Brawl competition. Colin, Drew and I all enter the competition wearing fake moustaches because that's how awesome we are.

Later that night we went to St. Marks' docks; a beauuuuutiful starlit place fairly far from Tallahassee.

Sunday, October 25th. The second day that my Seto Kaiba TV segment airs on WFSU in Tallahassee http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57g8lJ6XpcM&feature=email. Today is Seto Kaiba's birthday; fair enough reason as to why I chose to upload it to the internet masses today instead of last night even though I COULD have done that last night. XD

Today, Colin, Drew and I went to the St. Mark's lighthouse. We went hiking and ate cactus fruits (don't mind the 700,000,000,000 spines we got poinked with) and then went to Bonefish Grill in the evening.
------------------------------------------------------

And then next week we have the advent of Youmacon, which I KNOW is going to be unbelievable. It's a long and expensive journey for me, but I'm beside myself with excitement. :D :D :D

I don't know; I've always been a religious person and that has contributed incredibly to my optimistic outlook on life, but lately, I've felt so close to God and so very pleased with everything that is happening to me. I can't ask for more; I have a school that I love and classes that I love; I have two internships that further remind me how much I know what I want to do with my career goals; I am part of a team that makes me a better person individually as well as strengthens me through the ties of teamwork and bringing honor to our common school; I have made many friends who love me and who I love; I have enough money to live comfortably all of the time and do virtually everything that I want to do. I learn all the time how to take care of myself and make good decisions about everything. I look forward to everything; every day I watch my dreams come true (whether they be silly dreams like getting to be Seto Kaiba on television, or major ones like signing up for classes and realizing that I will successfully receive my bachelor's degree at the age of 20).

I guess it's just one of those days/weeks/months/years/decades where you feel like life has meaning and that even the bad days are going to ultimately lead to something good; because that's all what I truly do believe :]
