I think it is really splendid of iSchool alumni and the department to plant two trees on campus near Mary Gates Hall for Mary Cooper and Susanna Stodden. A bench has been donated as well, by friends of the two women. Reading the email made me cry. Mary had just graduated with her MLIS in 2004, her daughter was still quite young. While it is sad no matter the age and accomplishments of a person when they are killed for no discernable reason, it strikes me that these women were in the prime of their lives. It is just such a shame. I hope the person responsible for this tragedy is soon brought to justice.
